CREEPS'd OUT!
After a craaaazy two months and some change, the CREEPS III Release and Collective Show at Ed. Varie came and went w/ no casualties and a great sense of accomplishment! Many, many thanks to all my friends and, most importantly, the rest of the CREEPS core who showed tremendous support and work ethic to make sure this bebe saw the light of day!
The third incarnation of CREEPS Annual is jam-packed w/ the work of thirty-three artists of all kinds of flava flaves bound into three books w/ screen printed coatings and wrapped tightly in a die-cut sleeve collaboration between my siamese twin, Nina Carelli, and I. Extra bonuses include two screen printed posters based on my humiliation and A (Ode to Nauman) videos and a first-time CREEPS Collective collaboration: the Paperbabe!
Glow in the dark Chain Fetish cover for Book Two of CREEPS III
Book One Insert for humiliation
Book Three Insert for A (Ode to Nauman)
Siamese Troll Head and Stretch Armstrong Torso for the CREEPS Collective Paperbabe
Thank you to Karen Schaupeter at Ed. Varie for her assistance in making this a very big year for the CREEPS Collective! Our first collective show in correlation w/ the release of the latest CREEPS Annual wouldn't have been possible w/out her!
Stay tuned to our revamped website, designed by Michael Maguire and Chris Wednesday, for the latest news and information on where you can pick up a copy or two from our massive edition of 333!

CREEPS-ickle
The second issue of CREEPS Annual was released just in time for the XXXmas season! ...or at least it feels that way after NYC's White Halloween weekend.
Scaled up for enhanced eye-popping visuals, CREEPS II features the work of 15 contributing artists of various funky fresh flavors, a silk screened cover by Jon Vermilyea, endpapers by Panayiotis Terzis...
...AND a furry fold-out Ouija board printed by yours truly - complete with a clear planchette to host your own fabulous spirit soiree from the comfort of your private dungeon!
Stay tuned to the CREEPS website, designed by Michael McGuire and Joe DeDalto of Boobies & Co, for information on where you can pick up a copy of CREEPS II & other miscellaneous goodies!

Narcissists
Here's the print I completed based off of my illustrations for the November issue of Instigatorzine! It was originally meant to be two separate prints, but I found this arrangement complimented each piece enough to give it the depth to become one strong print. Didn't the Spice Girls touch on that topic once?

Mariachi de Malaguas
NEW PRINT!...kinda. Originally, I completed it as a digital piece (YUCK) for an in-school assignment;but, as usual, I wasn't fulfilled come the final. Mostly because my heart is with printmaking, not the computer. Super psyched about my mastery of printing transparent colors and gradients in this piece...okay, just kidding...mastery has yet to come!
...although, this is the most delicious gradient I've printed to date. Its a good day when the gods of printmaking are on your side! :)
I also finished a second print which is a combination of the pieces I illustrated for the short story, Laura's House, for the recently printed issue of Instigatorzine, but I didn't want to piece it together digitally with the baby scanner I had to use for the print above...so please bear with me!
In other news, I've finally freed myself from the grips of lethargy and submitted a piece to the annual Postcards from the Edge show...which I'm reeeeally excited about! Its for an amazing cause and has a fun twist to it; its all anonymous...unless you purchase the postcard! For a pretty inexpensive amount (and, in effect, donating to a good cause) you could have yourself the art of some extraordinaire out there!
Keeping in line with the theme of the show, I won't reveal mine til after January 8th when the show comes down, but I will tell you that its titled Eye Keep Losing All My Teeth and Friends. Hope you can make it out to any of the three showings!
This will probably be my last post for the year! WHUUUT!? I hope you all have an awesome holiday filled with all your faves and the best times to ring in the new year. Hope you'll stick around for the adventures in 2011!!

Live Electronics
Since my last update, my friend, Narciso Espiritu, has invited me on board the illustration staff of a local literary zine, Instigatorzine, which is gaining popularity and expanding its distribution at a quickening pace! Above is my second submission for the upcoming October issue, which you can pick up at any of the distributors or order online via the website. CHECK IT OUT!...and lets pretend my first submissions never happened!
PRINT ACHIEVEMENTS
I finished it in two days and I only used 3 separations, which in my experience is unheard of. PROUD!
SAVE THE DATE October 20th, 2010!
Another collaborative effort I've been enlisted for by head creep, Nina Carelli, The CREEPS Collective, is having its Zine Release Launch Party and Gallery Exhibition (which I will be a part of) from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at CULTUREfix in the LES. Check out the FB event here and come out, buy a zine, and have a drink...or four! I'll be debuting a new wacky print that is developing deliciously.

Makin' Moves
YES! Finally, got those two new prints done! This first one required some perseverance...
I'm actually buggin' out a bit for showing this terrible ailment on the eyes, but it just makes me that much happier with the final outcome. This print was barraging me with challenges (the atmosphere versus the medium being the biggest), but I learned so much about screen printing in the process.
Done?...NO! I was okay with it at this point, but something didn't feel right...and when something doesn't feel right it just means somethings wrong, so....
This print, on the other hand, came really easy...almost too easy. It was also one of those "I'm realizing as I'm making this that it means more to me than I originally thought it did" pieces, which is a fun plus whenever I'm making new work!
Gonna keep makin' moves and hopefully have BRAND SPANKIN' NEW pieces to share next week!...maybe good news concerning a newly acquired job? Lets not overwhelm my luck! In the meantime...
...my close friend, Erin Dodge, is one of five finalists up for the opportunity to be the new Chopsticks NY cover artist for the 2011 calendar year! You can view the all the finalists work on their home page AND vote for Erin in the process! Loca would be eternally grateful!
I also highly recommend making your way to the Whitney to check out the exhibitions Off the Wall: Part 1 - Thirty Performative Actions and Heat Waves in a Swamp: The Paintings of Charles Burchfield. I'm not someone who is big on performance art, but the show is very interesting and worth a look at.
As for Burchfield, Charlie Yoder turned me on to him at the print shop when he compared my Cloud of Hope piece to his work. His large scale watercolors are IN-CRED-IB-LE! My work hardly stands up to them! They're reeeeeally gorgeous. If you're a painter and miss this show...HECK, even if you're not, you'd be out of your mind. Really inspiring! There's even a room decked out in a wallpaper print he designed...which is MIND BLOWING. GO!

What Is Love?
PHEW! Its been quite the month and post-undergraduate experience recently...
About a week back I finished art directing a show for my friend, Yvette Edery, What is Love?, which received rave reviews and will probably be up for its second wave of shows next month! Probably the craziest deadline I'll have in my life...EVER!
Aside from Yvette's puppets, which are five years in the making, the rest of the show basically came together in...hmm...A MONTH!? Regardless, I'm very grateful for the experience, gray hairs, and YEARS of maturity which were gained.
Hopefully, you were fortunate enough to catch the show and see the set pieces I created with the help of recent NYU graduate, Ambika Trasi. If not...hopefully, I'll have some pictures to share with you soon.
In the meantime, here are some scans of the fabric I silkscreened for the set piece I was solely responsible for, which was also the centerpiece of the show...the Cosmic Circus Tent:
If you've been following me for the past year, you'll realize that I've brought Yvette up before in regards to the previous summer. Last Friday's show was followed by a screening of the short children's film I worked on with her then, Jillian Dillon, which has been accepted into 11 film festivals! Here's the trailer, in case you missed it the first time:

Even though I joined in on the fun later than most of the contributors, I was still able to construct the opening set piece and a few smaller pieces which can be seen throughout the film. I should have the set within the next week to photograph, but for now, here are some of the smaller things:
Silkscreened background behind Jillian Statue and cut floral details (drawn by EunQ)
Miniature changing tent on the beach (in the tent set, I sewed the striped background)
"Be Kind to Hippoplatypi" Sign in City Hall
Now that all my time has been freed up I've been working on a number of projects (I should have more treats tomorrow!) and was able to update my website! Check it out! I really need to get my CSS skills up...this slicing business is reckless! I should be back soon with puppets, animation, and more new work!
Cheers to another crazy month!
