SHAME

SHAME is the first in a series of masks I'm working on which was in the Spaghetti Suicide FUNERAL show over the weekend at Y Gallery. Check out my first video piece, humiliation, (which was integral in the making of SHAME) along with a peek at the show below!

humiliation

A sneak peek of stills from my FIRST video piece humiliation which will be debuting with a new sculpture at the Spaghetti Suicide Group Show on November 18th! Check out our flyer for more deets!

...also, if you're in the tri-state area: my favorite dreamboat of all time, Jim Henson, has a retrospective at the Museum of the Moving Image. The exhibition, aside from some distracting signage introducing each era of his ouvre, is impeccably designed and worth the trip out to Astoria for any enthusiast of his work. How else will you be able to brag about seeing Miss Piggy in her 80s Bride-zilla eleganza!?

If you make it out there before November 16th, you'll be able to catch Henson's Time Piece, one of the most charming and clever short films I've ever seen. CHECK IT OUUUT!

Stay tuned to the CREEPS website, designed by Michael McGuire and Joe DeDalto of Boobies & Co, for information on where you can pick up a copy of CREEPS II & other miscellaneous goodies!

Narcissists

Here's the print I completed based off of my illustrations for the November issue of Instigatorzine! It was originally meant to be two separate prints, but I found this arrangement complimented each piece enough to give it the depth to become one strong print. Didn't the Spice Girls touch on that topic once?

Eye Keep Losing All My Teeth and Friends

The Postcards from the Edge Preview Party last Friday was SUPER crowded! Hopefully, you were able to see the show this past weekend before it came down. Lots of great work!...and it was fun trying to figure out which of the pieces were by big names in the game. A friendly volunteer revealed to me that the postcard pictured below was actually Yoko Ono's, so congrats to whoever made the purchase!

My submission, Eye Keep Losing All My Teeth and Friends (Postcard #1010), seemed to pique some interest, so here's hoping it was able to make Visual AIDs some cash moneys (I've yet to find out!) Some  art budz who were also in the show include: Buzz SlutzkyErin DodgeFlorencia Escudero, and Lindsay Lee Long (GERL update your website!). Check 'em out!...and if you didn't get a chance to submit this year, you should definitely make an attempt the coming one!

It was really freeing and fun to make a piece that didn't involve the printmaking process. I think I'll do it more often...

HAPPY 2011!
